Kathy Sturch

Seeing through the eyes of the artist

Kathy Sturch grew up in north Texas and southeastern Oklahoma where life is casual and people are friendly. She earned a BS in Education in 1965 and her Masters of Art Education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1985. After years of teaching art both publicly and privately she now spends her time in her studio painting or enjoying her 13 grandchildren.

"Painting is all about seeing the unseen. Interpreting nature and people and relationships in the medium of watercolor is exciting as well as challenging. Just watching the paint move and find its rightful place on paper is enough to keep me painting.  I am intrigued by the effects of light and the 'hidden' colors found in nature.  But the real joy comes as ordinary people in everyday activities are captured in a moment in time as they use their gifts for others. My desire is to paint not only the simple acts of a few but to reveal a bit of the extraordinary in the ordinary actions of neighbors and friends."
